About
Aarni Nordström is a Finnish engineering student nearing the end of a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering at Aalto University, while also holding a parallel BSc in Chemistry from the University of Helsinki. This dual academic background — spanning organic, inorganic, physical, and theoretical chemistry alongside electronics and bioinformation technology — makes him an unusually versatile technical profile bridging hardware, software, and natural science. His work experience reflects that breadth well. Most recently he worked as a Junior R&D Engineer at Snowbyte Oy, a sensor technology startup, where he handled PCB design in Altium Designer, embedded C programming, and Python-based instrument control. Before that he interned at ICEYE, contributing to the assembly and testing of SAR satellites, and at Vaisala, where he researched LIDAR and time-of-flight sensing for weather measurement applications. Earlier roles include research assistant positions at VTT — working on flexible printed electronics in a semi-cleanroom environment — and at Aalto University, where he ran RF and antenna circuit experiments using tools like VNAs and circuit simulators. On the technical side, he is proficient in PCB design, microsoldering, 3D printing, Python, MATLAB, and a range of analytical lab instruments. He also has a growing interest in web and app development, having built and configured websites and worked with AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor. Beyond technical work, Aarni has held leadership and treasurer roles in student and sports organizations, and has served as a polling official in multiple Finnish elections — pointing to someone who is organized, reliable, and comfortable in structured civic or institutional settings.
